About Me
I’m Sam Bard, a marine biologist and underwater camera operator based in London. My career started with Fisheye Underwater Productions in the Philippines, where I learned the craft of filming beneath the surface. Combining years of diving experience with an MSc in Marine Biology, I have an understanding species behaviour, ecological context, and how to work seamlessly with researchers.
I create high-quality underwater photography and video for conservation NGOs, dive operators, and commercial productions, aiming to show the ocean as it truly is and inspire people to protect it.

Experience
With thousands of dives logged and technical certification to 45 meters, I work with twinsets, sidemount, and full-face masks with comms. This means I can handle deeper sites, longer bottom times, and communicate with dive teams or subjects underwater during shoots. Whether it's straightforward reef documentation or a multi-day project that needs careful planning and coordination, I've got the training and experience to do it safely.

Gear
I shoot on a Nikon Z8 in a Marelux housing—8K60p video and 45-megapixel stills. I've got professional video lights for proper color at depth, and a range of lenses and ports that cover wide-angle through to macro. This means I can shoot different styles depending on what the project needs: cinematic sequences, documentary footage, or high-resolution images for print.
